Our Vision

MIT’s PRecision, Sex-based Medicine (PRiSM) is an initiative pursuing a mutli-scale, multi-modal model of human health with sex-based biology as its primary organizing principle. Its scientific vision is an integrated, predictive model of human health that treats sex-based biology as foundational from genetics to molecular and cellular functioning to organ systems to whole-body functioning.

Our Approach

It integrates scales of biology (genes, molecules, cells) using frontier AI that can be extrapolated into a whole-body system for research inference and clinical decision support. Recent advances in foundational models/frontier AI, model composition, and the availability of large real-world datasets – along with unique proprietary ones – make this work newly plausible. It will develop an open-access resource for a broader community of researchers and practitioners interested in sex-based precision medicine. Based at the MIT Schwarzman College of Computing (SCC), the collaboration bridges AI researchers with biologists and clinicians, an exciting area of strategic opportunity.
